Holiday pay - New rights

As from 1st October 2007 anyone working full time is entitled to 24 days paid holiday a year (up from 20 days). This is the minimum you must be given but your contract may entitle you to more. Public and bank holidays will count as part of your holiday entitlement unless your contract specifically says that you are given these in addition to your statutory paid holiday so you need to check the terms. The Government Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (DBERR) has produced a ready reckoner to help calculate entitlement. It is available from the DEBRR website at www.berr.gov.uk
